My goodness! What a day it was! Pictured above is me with students from the Korea Tourism College group. For several hours we strolled along the streets, shopping malls, hotels and beaches in Waikiki. This is Hawaii's main tourism hub, a place where the hospitality industry is big business.
To the students: I urge you to walk around Waikiki on your own. As you noticed on our walking tour, the staff of the restaurants and hotels are more than happy to take a moment or two to speak with you. This is your opportunity to learn from the pros, the very hard-working people who do so much to make Waikiki the exciting and sought after destination it is.
Feeling a craving for food from home? Don't forget to stop by the Mikawon restaurant we visited. It's located off Kuhio Avenue, behind the Miramar Hotel and Waikiki's International Marketplace. Give them your business!
We're just getting started! Our future field experiences will take us beyond the beaches and high-rise hotels of Waikiki.
Aloha,
Jeffrey Bingham Mead, Instructor
