Baewha Women's University: Week #1 Introduction Speech Feedback

Hello Baewha Women’s University Students:

Thank you all very much for preparing and delivering your introduction speeches on Friday, January 6.

I was very impressed with your career choices and areas of study. These include working in business, international trade, as translators or interpreters, as flight attendants, as secretaries, early childhood education, as a broadcasting producer, pharmacy, business management, nutrition education, accounting and much more.

As part of this first assignment I asked each of you to share what you wanted to learn most while here at Kapiolani Community College, Hawaii. You stated that you wanted to learn about American and Hawaiian culture, public speaking, presentation skills, grammar and punctuation, making English language sentences, pronunciation, conversation skills, meeting other KCC students, to express and think in English language, and perhaps most of all, increase your confidence.

While you were speaking I noted various areas that need improvement. These are pronunciation, inflection, speaking up or increasing the volume of your voices, inflection, more eye contact, and adding details to your comments.

We will work together on strengthening the skills you are good at as well as those you need to improve on. I am convinced your best days as students are ahead! With hard work, dedicated, enthusiastic study and a willingness to learn your future will brighten! I look forward to helping you succeed!

Aloha,

Jeffrey Bingham Mead
