On Tuesday I had the pleasure of meeting with and working with two student groups from Hakuoh University in Japan. The university was founded in 1986. “From its inception, Hakuoh has attempted to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical education by focusing on the acquisition of knowledge and skills that are most applicable to today's rapidly evolving society. Students are trained to think creatively, globally, and to make the widest possible use of evolving technologies.” Go to this link to learn more about the history of this university.
Each group consisted of students pursuing degrees in law enforcement, civil law, education and psychology. One of the education students stayed after our final session concluded. He asked, "How can I improve my English skills?" Languages provide people with methods of communication. There are many options available to you! I found this link at UsingEnglish.com that lists 70 ways students of all ages can use their English skills.
Personally, I think the best way is to practice, practice and practice more! During your stay in Hawaii you will meet many people from all over the world. We are accustomed to meeting people like you who use English as your second language. Do not be afraid to try! You will be fine. Also, check out the like to Grammar Girl on this blog site. It has many resources available to you anytime and everywhere with Internat access.
Enjoy the remainder of your time in Hawaii! Do remember to come back and see us again soon! Aloha!
