No Class: July 4, American Independence Day Celebrations
American Independence Day is on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 this year. No classes will be held at Kapiolani Community College.
KTC students: there will be celebrations held all over Honolulu. The one that is nearest to you will be in the evening at Ala Moana Beach Park. This is the oceanside park and beach just behind Ala Moana Center. It is a short bus ride, or you can walk from your dorm in Waikiki. Click this link for information on Hawaii's largest fireworks display. Everyone is invited -and it's free!
On Sunday, July 1, the Honolulu Independence Weekend Parade will be held in Waikiki. There will be 500 marchers, 30 vehicles and 5 bands. The parade will run through Waikiki beginning near your dorm at the intersection of Saratoga Road and Kalakaua Avenue. It will continue down Kalakaua Avenue to finish at Queen Kapiolani Park. The Honolulu Independence Weekend Parade begins at 6pm and ends at roughly 7:30pm.
