Food Glorious Food: The ESL Way
Yesterday I met with a group of IT students from Aso College in Japan. Arigato everyone! I enjoyed meeting all of you and your chaperone, Katz.
Now, let's get down to business, that is, the business of restaurant English and places to go here in Honolulu. There is much to choose from!
At the right side of this blog site is a section on Hawaii restaurants, food shopping -and survival English for you!
As verified by my local friends here in Hawaii, the best -and I do mean THE BEST burgers are at Teddy's Bigger Burgers. There is a location in Waikiki on Kapahulu Avenue that is within easy walking distance of most hotels, the beach and the Honolulu Zoo.
Many of you asked about sushi! Was I surprised? Not really. Sushi is popular here in Hawaii. You might remember that I conducted a poll via my Facebook page about which sushi place was the best. The clear winner was Yanagi Sushi, located off Kapiolani Blvd. There are Genki Sushi restaurants around Oahu that come recommended.
So, you found the Don Quijote store off Kaheka Street? Good for you! This is a very popular place among Japanese visitors, my students at Hawaii Tokai International College, and quite honestly just about everyone -including me.
Don't forget that the largest Walmart store in the world is located two blocks west off Keeaumoku Street, just one block from the mountain side of Ala Moana Center. There is a food section that includes shelves filled with the instant ramen of your dreams!
Look at the dining options on the right side of this blog. If you have recommendations or requests send them to me here. Good eating!
