Rise and shine! Tomorrow morning our group will be visiting the Bishop Museum. This is one of Hawaii's foremost educational museums dedicated to the natural world, Hawaiian culture and much more!
I recommend that you board the B-Express or the #2 bus from your hotel in Waikiki. Ask the bus driver to call out the Bishop Museum stop at the intersection of North School Street and Kapalama Street. I will wait for you there. We will cross the street and walk two blocks makai (towards the ocean) to Bernice Street. The museum is on the right side.
Please be sure to arrive near 9:00 a.m. This is also when the museum opens.
After your visit is completed return to North School Street and wait at the bus stop. You can take the B-Express and transfer to the A-Express at Kawaiahao Church. You can also ride any bus that says 'Ala Moana.' It will bring you to Ala Moana Center. From there you can go to Global Village in the Pacific Guardian Building.
Yes, photos are permitted inside. If you see a sign stating that photos are not allowed please respect the wishes of the museum. If you have a question ask one of the helpful staff.
By the way, Bishop Museum has a YouTube channel! Click here to see it. Also, use the search box by typing Bishop Museum and see videos created and posted by others.
This is, of course, a field trip that includes an assignment. You will be working with a group of your peers. Your task is to explore the museum and find something that interests you -and that would interest your students in South Korea. Design a lesson that is intended to teach and reinforce English language skills. Be creative and have fun with this! Good luck!
